Smoothbeam™ acne laser therapy is an effective way to treat your acne as well as acne scars. This gentle, safe method targets overactive sebaceous glands in your skin–the root cause of acne. Medical lasers such as Smoothbeam are safe and have been used for over 20 years to treat many medical and cosmetic skin conditions.
Shortly after your first treatment, you will start to see a reduction in the number of acne lesions on your skin. Remission times have been documented to last as long as 6 months! Acne and cosmetic treatments usually are not covered by most insurance carriers, however, the cost of over-the-counter and prescription acne medications often surpasses our price of $200 for a complete facial job.
Say goodbye to expensive, ineffective medications… Say hello to clear, glowing skin
There is no pretreatment required in advance of for this treatment. You should, however, avoid the sun for 2 weeks before and after the procedure. Also, your skin should be thoroughly cleaned and dried, removing any makeup, cream, or oils on its surface before laser treatment. You should discuss using acne creams and pills during the laser treatment with your physician to determine if the combination of other procedures is warranted.
DURING YOUR PROCEDURE
Treatment takes place in our comfortable setting. Patients wear safety eyewear to protect your eyes from the laser light during the procedure. Our technician will guide the laser with a small handpiece, and each laser pulse will be preceded/followed by a short pulse of cooling spray. Most patients report the procedure to be “mild” with little discomfort, however, topical anesthetics are available if you choose. Treatments can last from 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the area and condition being treated.
The treated area may become slightly red or tender, which usually subsides within an hour. Patients should avoid sun exposure before and after treatment, and should apply sunblock (SPF 30 or above) when going outdoors. In the first few days after treatment, don’t scrub or rinse the treated areas with abrasive skin cleansers.
