Avoid the sun 4 - 6 weeks before and after treatment. Patients
scheduled for hair removal should avoid electrolysis, plucking
or hair waxing for six weeks prior to treatment. If you have a
history of perioral herpes and are scheduled for facial hair treatment,
prophylactic antiviral therapy may be prescribed. If you have
a dark skin type, a bleaching cream may be started 4 - 6 weeks
before treatment to optimize results. Also, your skin should be
thoroughly cleaned and dried, removing any makeup, cream, or oils
on its surface before laser treatment. Laser hair removal is not
for those who want to get rid of white or gray hair.
